“Normy” brackets

In order to lift the gable end off of the rotten sill, we timberlocked a rough 2×10 ledger to each of the posts and studs framing the wall. Then we carriage-bolted heavy L-shaped brackets, made by Norm Faucher, through the ledger and into each post. Using jacks and “dead men,” we lifted the front of the building just a few inches, in order to slide out the old pieces of sill, and in with the new.
